100 Acts of Love

100actsofloveThis Christmas season through SpringvaleYouth we are going to commit 100 acts of love.  Once we get to 100, we’ll just start over again and see how many we can do!

“…[be] like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition of vein conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”  Philippians 2:2-4

Here’s what you do:

Simply think of others before yourself. Sure this isn’t as organized as “Operation Christmas Child” or buying a goat through World Vision, but what it does is get you POURING OUT the love you have received from God to others.

Simply think of others before yourself. Sure this isn’t as organized as “Operation Christmas Child” or buying a goat through World Vision, but what it does is get you POURING OUT the love you have received from God to others.

Here’s how you do it:

There are far more ways that you can show someone love than I can name in this short area…that part is up to you.  In your world, in your daily walk – who are the people you ignore each day?  What are the things you’re good at that might just make someone smile?  What is one intentionally kind, encouraging thing you could say to someone today!?  THOSE are the things that make a difference, those are the things that change someone’s day from bad to good, those are the things that change the world.  WHAT CAN YOU DO?

It could be as simple as returning someone’s grocery cart to the store for them, or as sacrificial as using Christmas money to bless someone else.  It could be as small as letting someone through the door before you, or as big as…(you tell me).  There’s no limits to our love, and we want the world to know that! As long as in your heart you are doing what you’re doing intentionally to love this person…count it!

Here’s how we record it:

In our Youth Room there is a Christmas Tree set up with no decorations on it.  We want you to write down your intentional act of love and hang it on the tree, decorating it with the most amazing thing in the world, acts of love.

Here’s why:

Each Christmas we tend to get in the holiday spirit and try to help out those less fortunate than us by giving them presents, etc.  This year we want to START something at Christmas that could be infectious and spread through the year.  Not just one act, one time…but a lifestyle of love

God gave us the most incredible gift, his son Jesus.  We want to stand up today recognize that He did that solely out of love and show that love to everyone we meet.

THIS is our Christmas Service project.

 100 acts of love…starts now.
